Fresh off his maiden European Tour win, South Africa’s Dean Burmester has moved back into the top 100 in the latest world rankings.
Burmester claimed a three-shot win at the Tshwane Open on Sunday and promptly rocketed 49 places up the rankings to sit in 95th place, one behind compatriot Jaco Van Zyl.
Burmester and Van Zyl are joined inside the top 100 by five other South Africans, with Branden Grace remaining the country’s leading player according to the rankings.
Grace remains in 18th place after finishing the WGC-Mexico Championship in a tie for 32nd place.
Louis Oosthuizen dropped two places to 27 after his T48 finish in Mexico, with Charl Schwartzel in 28th after dropping one place following his T38 finish at the same event.
At the top of the rankings, Dustin Johnson cemented first place ahead of Jason Day, Rory McIlroy and Hideki Matsuyama, with his win in Mexico, while Jordan Spieth and Henrik Stenson swapped fifth and sixth place. Adam Scott dropped to eighth to accommodate a rise for Justin Thomas. Rickie Fowler and Sergio Garcia to round out the top 10.
