• Azinger reveals potential pain med problem for Tiger

1993 PGA Championship winner Paul Azinger has revealed that some players think Tiger Woods might have a problem with pain medication.

Azinger, speaking as an analyst for FOX golf, was in the studio discussing Dustin Johnson’s chances at the US Open, Phil Mickelson possibly missing the US Open, the groupings for the event, and Tiger Woods’ most recent troubles following his DUI arrest.

‘I know firsthand there are some players that think there’s a problem there with Tiger,’ said Azinger.

‘I don’t, I haven’t been around him much the last few years. But there are some players out there that are saying this has been a problem for a while.’

Woods is currently recovering from his fourth back surgery and blamed his arrest on the reaction to the medication he is taking.

‘I didn’t realize the mix of medications had affected me so strongly,’ Woods said in his statement on the matter.

Azinger stepped into murky waters by opening up the possibility that the 14-time Major champion could be addicted to pain medication.

‘Tiger’s close to a few people. Not many. And the few people that are around Tiger probably know there’s a problem,’ Azinger said.

‘And if they don’t intervene, then it’s on them. But addiction’s a big deal, and if he’s addicted, then somebody better intervene.’

Fast forward to the 7:21 mark to hear Azinger discuss the Woods’ issue:
