Erik van Rooyen and MJ Daffue made solid starts to the Sony Open on Thursday, carding respective opening rounds of 67.
Appearing in their first events for the new year, the South African duo got the ball rolling, finishing the day on three under par.
Van Rooyen made four birdies and one bogey across his 18 holes, while Daffue also only dropped a single shot, on the par-four 13th hole.
They are, however, five strokes behind the leaders ahead of Friday’s action with Peter Malnati, Jason Kokrak and Joaquin Niemann leading the way on eight under.
