New Ryder Cup sports challenge kicks off with England rugby star Marcus Smith

As part of the newly-announced collaboration between the Ryder Cup and Roc Nation Sports International, a new sports crossover content series has kicked off with a unique challenge for England flyhalf Marcus Smith.

This past June, the Ryder Cup announced its consultancy partnership with Roc Nation Sports International, which included making use of creative content creation through its video production service RNSI Productions.

This also involved working with the incredible talent on the wider Roc Nation roster, which includes golf enthusiasts from all walks of life, such as Smith.

In the first of a series of episodes created by RNSI Productions, the England rugby star is challenged by European Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald to put his rugby skills to the test within the environment of golf

“We know how well you can kick on a field, but how well can you kick on a fairway?” Donald asks Smith during a light-hearted video message.

With a series of targets set up on a green, Smith then attempts to see if he can get a “kick-in-one” as he became the first Roc Nation athlete to put his crossover sports skills to the test on a golf driving range.

Rob Simpkins, who is the head of content and strategy at Roc Nation Sports International, said it was great fun to be part of such a distinctive content series.

“At Roc Nation we are incredibly excited about showcasing golf to a wider sports audience, and these playful and energetic activations will assist us in growing the audience of the Ryder Cup to new demographics.

“The great thing about RNSI productions and facilitating all aspects of production from creative to shooting in-house, is that our intimate and personal relationships with the athletes involved ensures this content is authentic and natural for our talent in a way which only Roc Nation can do.”
