• Garcia honoured by Laureus

Sergio Garcia wins the 81st Masters
    Garcia is reaping the rewards

Sergio Garcia’s Major triumph at Augusta helped him erase years of pain at golf’s biggest championships and has now earned him a Laureus award.

RECAP: How Sergio won big at Augusta

The Spaniard defeated Ryder Cup teammate and friend Justin Rose in a playoff at The Masters in 2017 to end his seemingly-never ending wait to put ‘Major champion’ on his illustrious CV.

The win has come with recognition at ‘the Oscars’ of sport in Monaco on Tuesday night as Laureus recognizes the best sporting achievements around the world.

The Laureus award follows a number of awards the popular Spaniard has claimed since losing his ‘best player without a Major’ tag in April last year and is his second Laureus award 18 years after his first for Newcomer of the Year in 2000.
