Frittelli is now SA's third highest ranked player

Dylan Frittelli and Jaco Van Zyl will spearhead the South African contingent in the Lyoness Open at the Diamond Country Club in Austria.

Frittelli, who rose up the rankings through steady golf in the early part of the season, is the top-ranked South African in the field at 104. The former University of Texas golfer is in fact third in the field behind Austrian and pre-tournament favourite Bernd Weisberger (winner in 2012) and Netherlands pro Joost Luiten (winner in 2013).

Behind Frittelli, from a local point of view, is Olympian Jaco Van Zyl, who enters the week ranked 118 in the world.

In total there will be nine South Africans in the field chasing a valuable European Tour win, including Hadyn Porteous, Zander Lombard, Trevor Fisher Jnr, Jaco Ahlers, Jbe Kruger, Keith Horne and Jake Roos.

The total prize money this week is €1 000 000.
