• Grace heads to Augusta as SA’s top-ranked player

    Branden Grace
Grace's place at Augusta is now under threat

Branden Grace will lead the South African charge at the 81st Masters Tournament this week, after being confirmed SA’s top-ranked golfer in the latest rankings.

Grace leads Louis Oosthuizen and Charl Schwartzel, with all three remaining in last week’s position after skipping the Houston Open ahead of the year’s first Major at Augusta.

With no golf on the local or European Tour, there was little movement, except for Jaco van Zyl dropping out of the top 100.

At the top of the rankings, the world’s top six remained unchanged, while Justin Thomas and Rickie Fowler moved up to seventh and eighth respectively, with Adam Scott dropping down two places to ninth.

Danny Willett will attempt to defend his green jacket from 17th place.
