Christiaan Bezuidenhout shot a second-round 68 on Friday to make a decent surge up the Alfred Dunhill Championship leaderboard.

The 26-year-old was one of the early starters at Leopard Creek and after a composed three-under-par 69 on Thursday, he appeared determined to get himself in contention before the weekend.

With the afternoon groups still largely out on the course throughout Friday afternoon, Bezuidenhout managed to climb up to T3 on seven under par.

Bezuidenhout rolled in four birdies across the 18 holes for a bogey-free display that made him the highest-placed South African before the afternoon tee offs.

Wilco Nienaber also made a significant recovery after his up and down round from Thursday with some delightful golf during his second round.

Also playing in the morning groups, the 20-year-old shot a four-under-par 68 to move up to five under for the event.

Nienaber, though, finished his round in a frustrating manner after making a double-bogey on the final hole, which hindered him from an even better round after moving to the top of the leaderboard with Bezuidenhout at a stage.

He will, however, still be confident heading into moving day by giving himself a chance of challenging for the win on Sunday.
