• Long wait for Louis on Friday

    Louis Oosthuizen
    A mixed day for Louis

Louis Oosthuizen will start his second round at Augusta National in the fourth from last group on Friday, with Rickie Fowler and Rory McIlroy involved later in the final pairing.

Oosthuizen was one of two South Africans to finish under par on Thursday as the action-packed Masters wasted no time to deliver the fireworks.

Round two promises to be another thriller with World No 4 Brooks Koepka and World No 6 Bryson DeChambeau at the top of the leaderboard.

Multiple Masters winner Phil Mickelson was electric on the way in yesterday with five birdies to finish one back of his countrymen. World No 2 Dustin Johnson got his campaign off to a flying start to share fourth with England’s Ian Poulter.

Sharing 6th through 18 is former champion Adam Scott, Thailand’s Kiradech Aphibarnrat, Dell Match Play winner Kevin Kisner, fiery Spaniard Jon Rahm and of course, Justin Harding.

The in-form South African begins his second loop around Augusta at 5:48pm, with Branden Grace starting through later. The 2017 Nedbank Golf Challenge champion opened with an even-par 72 and will be looking to go low ahead of the weekend.

The marquee groupings are spread through the field, with SA’s No 1, Oosthuizen (71), having to wait until 7:27pm to get out again.

Tiger Woods (70) is sure to have a large gathering in the penultimate grouping with Rory McIlroy (73), needing to get a move on. The Northern Irishman, seeking his first Green Jacket and with it the career slam, is joined by Rickie Fowler (70) and Australian Cameron Smith (70).

Justin Rose and Jordan Spieth both opened with 75s, putting them in doubt for the weekend. Rose is off at 4:53pm SA time with Spieth in the group that immediately follows.
