A birdie on the final hole helped Dean Burmester bring home a whopping R4 836 102 from the DP World Tour Championship, Dubai, as he enjoyed a fruitful flurry to end the season.
Burmester, who was one of the last players into the select 60-man field, thanks to his T11 finish at the Nedbank Golf Challenge, replicated his T4 finish from last year with the same financial rewards.
His cheque, together with the nearly R1.7-million he earned at Sun City, helped him finish 40th in the Race to Dubai after accruing €929,221 this season.
Frittelli’s final round 66 resulted in a top-10 finish and a cheque worth R3 217 398. The strong close to his week in Dubai lifted him to second in terms of South Africans in the Race to Dubai (36th), after he earned R1 156 410 at Sun City.
Next best, in 38th in the Race to Dubai, is Frittelli’s World Cup of Golf partner Erik van Rooyen. A final round 71 saw the Joburg Open runner-up join Francesco Molinari in the group at T26 and earn a cheque worth R1 152 753. One back of Van Rooyen was Branden Grace, who held a low profile this week and took home R844 795 for finishing T34.
Like Burmester, a good NGC helped Darren Fichardt into the field, and he took home R400 501 after ending alongside Martin Kaymer in T55.
Brandon Stone earned R358 819 after ending his season, one that saw him win the Scottish Open and end as the leading South African in the Race to Dubai (25th), in T57.
