• 5 picks for The Masters

    The Masters contenders
Who will step into Garcia's shoes?

Need help with your fantasy selections ahead of The Masters 2018? WADE PRETORIUS has done the legwork and picked five players to watch.

    1. Justin Rose

With so few players in the world showing true form, Rose is one that stands out in the world’s top 10 right now. He plays well at The Masters (second in 2015 and playoff loser last year) which is key to a big week at Augusta and is in full control of his game at the moment.

    2. Jordan Spieth

Always a danger at Augusta, the young American could go to No 1 in the world with a win this week. Yes, the demons of the 12th hole lurk but he’s likely to do enough on the other 17 holes to build in some cushion, should the butterflies become too much. He did well to fight into the top five last week and could get his first win since his dramatic Open Championship win last year.

    3. Bubba Watson

Two wins in 2018 and a multiple Masters winner – that’s enough to get Bubba into many’s top picks for this week. Watson has come from virtually nowhere to rank as one of the pre-tournament favourites. The left-hander has course knowledge, especially important seeing that being wild from the tee matters little this week.

    4.  Paul Casey

Experienced recent winner and has the Masters know-how. The Englishman has a number of solid finishes at Augusta in recent times and a Valspar win could lift him from the bunch into a contender on Sunday.

    5. Patrick Reed

It was between Reed, Rickie Fowler and Matt Kuchar for the last spot. None of the three has managed to win a Major for all their PGA Tour wins and talent. Reed’s been in contention for a number of weeks now; an Augusta turnaround could complete his journey into golf’s elite.

    *Top South African: Louis Oosthuizen
