Spieth has 3 different Majors, can he make it four?

Sergio Garcia and Brooks Koepka will join Jordan Spieth for the first two rounds of the 99th PGA Championship at Quail Hollow as Spieth goes in search of a career grand slam.

Only Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, Ben Hogan, Gene Sarazen and Gary Player have won all four Majors, with Spieth, who won this year’s Open, now attempting to beat Rory McIlroy and Phil Mickelson to the feat.

The traditional feature trio starts Thursday from the 10th tee at 8:25 am (14:25 SA time).

Garcia made headlines, but finally got his Major at Augusta in April, while Koepka battered Erin Hills into submission to claim the US Open in June, before Spieth’s wire-to-wire feat at Royal Birkdale two weeks ago.

South African Charl Schwartzel is alongside England’s Paul Casey and American Bubba Watson in the group before the Major winners, with Australia’s Jason Day, Sweden’s Henrik Stenson and world No 1 Dustin Johnson after them.

Four-time major winner Rory McIlroy has Spain’s Jon Rahm and American Rickie Fowler for company in the first two rounds.

It will be the 100th career Major start for Phil Mickelson and South African Ernie Els, a four-time Major winner, the latter who will open alongside England’s Ian Poulter and Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama at 13:45pm.
