South African Matthys Daffue will line up against some of the best pros in the field this week … however, not much is known about the Korn Ferry Tour member.

Workday Charity Open: Big names on display

The 31-year-old played his way into the Workday Charity Open thanks to a 63 that included 11 birdies and two bogeys. He fell just short last year of earning temporary membership to the Korn Ferry Tour but has grand plans of playing his way back through Monday qualifiers.

Daffue turned pro in 2012 and has a best Sunshine Tour finish of T4 in 2013 at the TELKOM Pro-Am.

According to dedicated Monday qualifying account @acaseofthegolf1 on Twitter this was Daffue’s sixth Monday success in his last 10 attempts.

This is his first PGA TOUR start.

Commenting on his card, Christof Appel said: ‘He has been very good for a long time, just hasn’t cracked the last hurdle. Many in South Africa thought this dude was going to be another Coetzee/Harding/VanRooyen quality global player.’
