    Rory McIlroy ahead of WGC
    Rory goes again

Rory McIlroy has been grouped with world No 1 Brooks Koepka and Australia’s Jason Day for the opening two rounds of the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational.

The trio have all topped the Official World Golf Rankings during their careers and will start their opening round at 12:59pm* from the first tee.

McIlroy goes into the event on the back of missing the cut at the Open Championship at Royal Portrush despite a stunning second-round display. On three of the last four occasions the four-time Major Champion has missed a cut, he has gone on to finish in the top two of his next event.

Australia’s Cameron Smith and Louis Oosthuizen, potential Presidents Cup teammates later this year in Smith’s homeland, are off at 11:42am alongside Brandt Snedeker.

Nos 11 and 12 on the Internationals rankings list Justin Harding and Japan’s Shugo Imahira are off at 12:15pm with former FedExCup winner Billy Horschel.

Tommy Fleetwood finished runner-up at the Open and he will start his bid to win a first event on American soil when he tees off from the tenth at 11:31am. He will be joined by Australia’s Marc Leishman and Patrick Cantlay (United States).

Jon Rahm, who sits third on the Race to Dubai rankings, will play alongside US Open Champion Gary Woodland and his fellow American Xander Schauffele at 11:53am from the tenth tee.

England’s Justin Rose tees off with fellow Major champ Jordan Spieth and American Matt Kuchar from the first at 12:48pm while on the back nine at 12:04pm reigning champion Justin Thomas, Dustin Johnson – the last winner of an event played at TPC Southwind‎ – and 13-time European Tour winner Paul Casey start their campaigns.
