    Max Homa

Max Homa, Si Woo Kim and Tony Finau are the leaders ahead of Sunday’s final round of the American Express in La Quinta.

The PGA Tour has been gripped in a tight battle all week in California with the event poised for a thrilling conclusion on Sunday.

Overnight-leader Sungjae Im dropped down a significant amount of places on the leaderboard after a struggling third round of 73.

That presented the opportunity for a number of players to make a charge for the summit.

Homa went seven under for his third round, while Kim and Finau carded respective rounds of 67 as all three of them ended Saturday’s action on 15 under par.

The trio is, however, closely followed by another batch of players, all well set to push to the end in the fourth and final round.

Richy Werenski is only a single shot behind the leaders after he shot a brilliant round of 65 on moving day with Russel Knox, Brian Harman and Emiliano Grillo all on 13 under par.

South Africa’s Charl Schwartzel carded a consecutive round of even par on Saturday, which saw him remain on five under par for the event.

Countryman Erik van Rooyen struggled, though, throughout his third round and unfortunately had to settle for a four-over-par 76 that saw him drop down to one under.
