Team Europe confirm Ryder Cup qualification

Team Europe have outlined how their team will qualify for the 2027 Ryder Cup set for Adare Manor as they go for a third win on the bounce.

Luke Donald is once more the man in charge following wins in Rome and New York.

Qualification will begin later this month at the Husqvarna British Masters at The Belfry from 27 August – it will be a year long process.

Donald’s team will include six qualifiers and six captain’s picks.

“The start of qualification is always a notable milestone in the Ryder Cup journey, so I am delighted to today confirm details of our process for the 2027 European Team,” Donald said.

“We have a lot of talented European players at the moment, some with Ryder Cup experience and others who will be trying to qualify for the first time. I am therefore really looking forward to seeing them compete to qualify for Team Europe over the next 12 months.”

The top six players from the European Ryder Cup points list will qualify, with points on offer across Race to Dubai Ranking Tournaments on the DP World Tour and FedExCup events on the PGA Tour, including the four majors.

PGA Tour tournaments taking place the same week as the DP World Tour’s Rolex Series events will not be included in the Ryder Cup qualification process.

In regard to points breakdown, tournaments will be split into five bands, which are as follows:

Band 5 – Major Championships – 5000 points

Band 4 – PGA Tour Signature events / The Players / FedExCup Playoffs events – 3000 points

Band 3 – DP World Tour Rolex Series events and PGA Tour regular FedExCup events – 2000 points

Band 2 – DP World Tour Back 9 events – 1500 points

Band 1 – DP World Tour Global Series events and PGA Tour “opposite” events – 1000 points.
