• Oosthuizen’s Colonial chance

Oosthuizen is ready for another big outing

For the 73rd time, the tour travels to Fort Worth Texas, where the game’s best will face the narrow corridors of the Colonial Country Club for the 2019 Charles Schwab Challenge.

The historic Colonial Country Club in Forth Worth will feature three South Africans in a powerful lineup, despite many seeking rest after the PGA Championship at Bethpage Black last week.

Louis Oosthuizen, still chasing victory No 1 on American soil, will be keen to rebound off the back of his final round 79 on Sunday as he starts alongside Branden Grace, who missed the cut in New York, and journeyman Tyrone van Aswegen.

Oosthuizen has two top 5s in his last two months and is making his sixth appearance at Colonial, which should add some gravitas to his threat. He was T5 last year and is one to watch.

It’s been something of an up-and-down season for Grace, who turned 31 this week. The now third-ranked Saffa has added just one top 10 to his runner-up finish at the Phoenix Open as he looks for a second win on US soil.

This week is Van Aswegen’s fifth start on the main tour as he looks to bank just his second cut.

Reigning FedExCup champion Justin Rose defends a title that came rather unexpectedly last year as the PGA TOUR returns to Texas to finish up this year’s ‘DFW Double’. The Englishman, now third in the world, closed with a 6-under 64 and finished at 20-under to beat Brooks Koepka by three.

Current FedExCup No 2 Xander Schauffele and The Open champion Francesco Molinari also headline the roster, as Molinari takes his first look at Colonial. Jon Rahm and Jordan Spieth also pose serious threats, while Bryson DeChambeau, who played at college level in the area, and Rickie Fowler help add 16 of the top 30 in the current FedExCup standings.
