SA’s No 1 Louis Oosthuizen is not ramping up his practise routine with uncertainty still surrounding the PGA TOUR’s resumption.

No golf has been played since round one of The Players and the Tour has now pushed the start date back to 8 June.

With the situation changing all the time, the 37-year-old is taking a cautious approach.

‘The way things are still going I don’t really want to get too into practicing when it’s still that far out,’ he told the BBC.

‘Once it gets to three weeks out, I’ll really start getting down to it and start practising and working.’

The PGA TOUR has been in a constant mode of change and schedule alterations due to the coronavirus pandemic with many still unsure if pro golf will actually resume as planned.

‘Mid to end of May is probably going to be the best time to really say it’s definitely going ahead and work out a nice schedule. I think for now you sort of get the feeling it’s going to get pushed back again,’ Oosthuizen added.

Meanwhile, 17 May will see televised golf after it was announced that two-time FedExCup champion and World No 1 Rory McIlroy and 20-time PGA TOUR winner Dustin Johnson will team up against PGA TOUR superstar Rickie Fowler and 2019 first-time TOUR winner and 2019 NCAA National Champion Matthew Wolff.

Seminole Golf Club will host a $3-million charity skins match supported by UnitedHealth Group to raise money and awareness for the American Nurses Foundation and CDC Foundation, two organisations helping to lead COVID-19 relief efforts.

The event will follow strict CDC social distancing guidelines, local mandates and will utilise appropriate testing measures to help protect the health and safety of the golfers, production crew and others on site.
