21-year-old Garrick Higgo will be the only South African in contention at this week’s Euram Bank Open at Adamstal Golf Club in Ramsau, Austria.

The event will feature a new champion come Sunday with both the 2018 and 2019 winners, Darius van Driel and Calum Hill, not part of the field in the Austrian hillsides.

Higgo, who claimed top spot at the South African Tour Challenge earlier this year, will now be hoping to hit the ground running on the European Tour, in only the second event since the Tour’s resumption last week.

The Stellenbosch youngster has been making massive strides on the local Sunshine Tour circuit where he finished the past season in sixth position on the Order of Merit list.

Having recently turned pro, Higgo is in a good position to prove himself alongside some of the Europe’s best up-and-coming golfers the first time the Challenge Tour event will be staged on the European Tour.

The picturesque backgrounds and beautiful scenery will certainly make it an event worth watching, while low scores can also be expected once play gets under way on Thursday.
