• Harding faces uphill battle

    Justin Harding
    Not part of the plan

Justin Harding was unable to repeat the heroics of Friday’s play as he signed for a third round 74 at the Boise Open on the Korn Ferry Tour.

The South African started the day in a share of 10th but with low scores all around him, he struggled to produce anything close to his best.

A seemingly innocuous-looking nine holes saw him make the turn one under par.

Then things got out of hand as he made bogey from the fairway on 11, bogeyed he next and missed the par 3 12th off the tee. He would record a double bogey as he started tumbling the leaderboard.

A birdie at the 15th provided some respite but he dropped another shot at the next and closed with pars to come home in 39 strokes; four over par and a 74.

His round saw him drop 46 places as much-spoken about rookie Victor Hovland grabbed the lead following a 64.

He needs a top 40 finish this week or next if he is to secure his PGA TOUR card.
