The Sunshine Tour’s inclusion of a team event has been a success as the tour moves to Dainfern this week. We look at 11 pairs that stand out.

Thriston Lawrence and Daniel van Tonder – fourth and seventh in the Order of Merit this season – are out in the second group of the day and represent two of the best players on tour right now. They will no doubt be pressing to make a fast start and set the tone for the championship.

The 7:33am tee time is another one to watch as youth and experience combine – Deon Germishuys and Ulrich van den Berg is joined by Wynand Dingle and the always dangerous Louis de Jager.

Another eye-catching grouping comes at 7:55am when Ockie Strydom and Doug McGuigan join Jaco Ahlers and Vaughn Groenewald on the tee box. Both pairs will be confident of going the distance this week and could spur each other on in round one.

2018 winners Hennie du Plessis and Jean Hugo are no doubt part of the equation with both arriving full of confidence. The same, of course, goes for defending champs JC Ritchie and Jaco Prinsloo, who famously snatched the title after an eagle on the final hole.

The pair they relegated into second place – Merrick Bremner and Jacques Blaauw – have signed up for another crack.

The Sunshine Tour is also ‘home’ for a number of visitors with Fred From and Philip Eriksson teaming up in search of glory while Stephen Ferreira and Benjamin Follett-Smith join them.

Group 22 features the team of Trevor Fisher Jnr and Neil Schietekat: a team full of experience on the biggest tours that will be looking to chase down any target set for them on Thursday.
