Dean Burmester is one shot behind leader Andy Syllivan after the second round of the English Championship at Hanbury Manor Marriott Hotel & Country Club.

Burmester carded a splendid eight-under-par 63 on Friday, which will see him go into the weekend on 13 under for the competition, alongside Laurie Canter.

Compleat Golfer’s playing editor Brandon Stone is also in the hunt after he followed up his first-round 65 with a 66 on Friday, which saw him end the day in T4 and on 11 under par.

Countrymen Wilcon Nienaber and Justin Harding have also continued their fine form on the opening two days of the event, shooting respective second rounds of 65 and 66 to sit on nine under and in T13.

Bryce Easton and Louis de Jager are also firmly in the mix at the English Championship and will both start moving day on seven under par.

Unfortunately Zander Lombard and Haydn Porteous will take no further part in the event as the missed the projected cut.
