Louis Oosthuizen headlines the South African contingent on duty at this week’s WGC-Mexico at the Chapultepec Golf Club.

Oosthuizen was looking to build some nice momentum after finishing fourth in Abu Dhabi before an injury niggle ruled him out of the Dubai leg the following week. The Abu Dhabi result was on the back of some excellent form which included his run at the Nedbank Golf Challenge and a top 10 at Leopard Creek before his maiden South African Open title at Randpark.
The 36-year-old starts this week on the back of a missed cut at last week’s Genesis Open, albeit in difficult weather conditions. He may benefit from the altitude variations in play this week at Mexico City.
Erik van Rooyen
Van Rooyen has picked up world ranking points in just two of last six events, including two consecutive missed cuts. He starts this week thanks to his finish on last season’s Sunshine Tour Order of Merit.
Branden Grace
The world number 41 was another to miss the cut at the Genesis Open, which was surprising, given his strong showing in Phoenix two weeks prior. That runner-up finish pushed Grace back into the top 50 in the world as he looks to ramp up his pre-Masters preparation with another strong showing this week.
Richard Sterne
Sterne is enjoying the fruits of his performance in Abu Dhabi which saw the South African move up 145 places in the world ranking. More importantly, it bolstered him into the top 10 in the Race to Dubai, which sealed his spot in this elite field. A top 13 in Saudi Arabia offset his missed cut in Dubai.
George Coetzee
Into the field after topping the Sunshine Tour’s money list, Coetzee has four missed cuts in his last six events. He is without a top 10 since April 2018’s Open de Espana where he finished in solo fourth, the week after his Tshwane Open victory.
Shaun Norris
The Japan Tour star continues to show off his consistency with just two missed cuts in his last 17 events. That run includes a win and three other top 5 finishes. Norris has now played in enough high-profile events not to be overawed by the occasion.
