The 36-year-old moved past Japan’s Daisuke Kataoka to claim the title which came with another healthy Official World Golf Ranking boost. Norris moves up 22 places to 76th and is now just two places behind countryman Charl Schwartzel, who maintains his third place in terms of South Africans.

‘All wins are special, but some are even more,’ Norris wrote on Instagram.

‘My first event as a father and a family, couldn’t have ended any better. Incredibly grateful for the opportunities I’ve been given. Was a tough decision to leave my wife, with our first born child, Jayden, at home while i travelled *miss you guys* . Incredibly proud of another Japan Tour Victory.’

Norris’ win helped him move past Dylan Frittelli, who – like Schwartzel – is in action this week at Sun City for the 2018 Nedbank Golf Challenge.

Louis Oosthuizen, still the top-ranked South African, moved up one spot to 39th as he sits between Adam Scott and Matt Kuchar.

Defending NGC champion Branden Grace dropped one place to 48th.
