    Aiken goes again

    Thomas Aiken leads the South African charge at the Nordea Masters through the halfway point at Hills Golf Club in Gothenburg, Sweden.

    Aiken halved his deficit on the lead on Friday thanks to a second round 65. Scott Jamieson and Paul Waring lead the way at -11 after rounds of 65 and 63 respectively.

    The 35-year-old, winner of three European Tour, went out in a bogey-free 29 strokes thanks in part to a start that included two birdies in his opening three holes and a finish that included three gains in a row before turning and coming home in level par 36 after a bogey at his last.

    In a rare feat, SA will have a 100% record heading into the weekend with all four of Aiken’s countrymen making thee weekend grade.

    European Tour rookie Jacques Kruyswijk sits in 21st place after a 67 with Justin Walters -3 through 36 holes.

    Despite dropping five places on Friday, a level par second round sees Christiaan Bezuidenhout into the weekend at -2. Haydn Porteous has two rounds to improve on his -1 score after the 24-year-old fired a 67 to advance into the money.
