• Woods, McIlroy treat for Genesis fans

Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy at Riviera
Fans are in for a treat

Justin Thomas will have the best view on the course as Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods work their way around the first two rounds of the Genesis Open at Riviera Country Club.

    INSIDE: The Genesis Open field

Woods is making his second start of 2018 at a venue where he has not won in 10 previous starts while McIlroy looks to bounce back from a missed cut at Pebble Beach.

The storylines don’t finish there as Riviera was the venue for Woods’ debut in 1992 as a skinny 16-year-old, although he missed the cut.

Woods, McIlroy and Thomas – the reigning FedExCup champion – won earlier this season at The CJ Cup @ Nine Bridges, and tee-off at the 10th at 17:22 (SA time) on Thursday.

There are five South Africans in the field including 1999 winner Ernie Els (with Tony Finau and Ryan Armour), Retief Goosen (with Ollie Schniederjans and Beau Hossler), Charl Schwartzel (with Cody Gribble, Brian Gay), Branden Grace (with Paul Casey and Austin Cook) and Tyrone van Aswegen (with David Lingmerth and CT Pan).

    Selected groups to watch:

Matt Kuchar, Phil Mickelson, Tommy Fleetwood
Patrick Cantlay, Jordan Spieth, Kevin Chappell
Dustin Johnson, Adam Scott, Bubba Watson
