At 13, Luc was the youngest GPI player

A Q & A with Luc Gavagnin, who at 13 became the youngest ever competitor at the Gary Player Invitational after joining Player in his team, which finished well.

What was the key to you starting golf ?

My grandfather introduced me and taught me how to play golf and since then I’ve been addicted to the game.

You’ve just played in the Gary Player Invitational as the youngest player ever … What was going through your mind as you teed up ?

I just wanted to make the most of this opportunity and to have fun.

What is your biggest takeaway from the GPI?

Either hitting the fairway on the first hole or getting two birdies on both the par 3s on the back nine to get tied best stroke average on the short holes.

What are your plans for the future ?

My plans are to finish high school in South Africa and then get a scholarship to play college golf overseas and then turn pro.

If you could choose, who would you invite to make up a dream fouball and what course would you play?

Jordan Spieth, Rory McIlroy and me. This would be my fourball because I look up to them and they could probably teach me a thing or two about golf.

We would play at the Gary Player Country Club because it’s one of my favorite golf courses.
