• First Look: The Players

Branden Grace at the SA Open
Grace returns to action this week

The Players Championship, golf’s unofficial fifth Major, takes place at TPC Sawgrass this week as we look at a number of storylines going into the event.

    1. Louis’ turn?

After missing out last year, Louis Oosthuizen arrives this week on the back of some solid golf and should contend if he can putt like he did last time out where he ranked fourth in strokes gained: putting.

    2. Hello Sergio!

No player has earned more money at the event than the Spaniard but he’s low on form. Can Sergio turn around his 0-3 cuts missed run?

    3. Jason’s day

The Australian is red-hot after a poor 2017. He’s won twice and arrives this week as the player to beat especially considering he won here in 2016.

    4. JT to run deep

Justin Thomas has picked up where he left off, at least in terms of the FedExCup which he leads after winning last year. He also leads the all-round scoring on tour this year and should be one to watch.

    5. Numero Uno

There are a number of possibilities regarding the world number one ranking this week, even one which could see Dustin Johnson drop to fourth. Money and trophies are a bigger priority but DJ won’t be giving up his title all that easily.

    6. Grace’s first time out

Not quite his first time out but the first as a new dad. A few weeks off could help Grace, who’s early 2018 form is yet to translate into the big one abroad.
