Stacy Bregman may have lost the battle but she won the war after claiming the bonus pool on offer for winning the Sunshine Ladies Tour Investec Property Fund Order of Merit.

The Johannesburg golfer hit a magnificent bunker shot to three feet to up-and-down for par at the 18th to bank the R100,000 bonus on offer.

Bregman, who won the season-opening Canon Tshwane Open, closed with a 67 to finish fourth at the Investec SA Women’s Open at Westlake.

‘I didn’t have the best start to the week, but I came out today and wanted to do really well,’ said Bregman.

‘I knew that I had nothing to lose and to finish off the way that I did, it teaches me a lot about myself, that I have what it takes at clutch moments like that. I knew what I had to do and to pull it off was just magical.’

Bregman finished top of the pile with SA Women’s Open winner Ashleigh Buhai second. To add to her first place cheque of R317,000, Buhai added R50,000 for her moneylist efforts.

Bonita Bredenhann slumped to a final round 75 which saw her slip to ninth but the Namibian’s consistency reaped some rewards as she added R25,000 to her winnings after finishing third in the Order of Merit.

    Bregman’s season:

    Tshwane Open – 1
    Joburg Open – T2
    DiData Challenge – 2
    DiDate Pro-Am – 4
    SA Masters – WD
    Supersport Ladies Challenge – T24
    SA Open – 4
