Dylan Frittelli is looking forward to competing against the European Tour’s best after his stunning 63 moved him within one of the lead at the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai.

Frittelli, who has one win and four top 10s to his name already this year, was flawless from tee to green on Saturday as he put himself in contention once again.

‘I definitely set high goals this year and I’ve achieved a lot of them,’ he said after putting himself in contention on Saturday.

‘Obviously it’s been a breakout year, it’s been the best one I’ve had as a professional so far. I just hope to keep the form coming and play well tomorrow again.

‘Ball-striking took a lot of the pressure off the putting. I didn’t leave myself too many testers. Sixteen, that was a great par save there and besides that, it was pretty plain sailing the rest of the way around. I’ve just got to stay focused and try to stick to the same routine.

‘It’s a round of golf. You’ve got to be happy with the situation and this is what we practise for. I love playing in front of crowds. I love playing with the best players in the world.’

The 27-year-old South African was four shots better off than playing partner Sergio Garcia, who won The Masters earlier in the year.

‘I had fun with Sergio (Garcia) today, he’s a good friend of mine and wonderful competitor, it’s nice to mix it up with him. He played well, as well. Basically I’m trying to make as many birdies as I can tomorrow and compete with these guys.’

Frittelli will have projected Race to Dubai leader Justin Rose for company in the final pairing on Sunday. The duo will renew a rivalry of sorts after the Englishman won the Turkish Airlines Open by one from Frittelli and Nicolas Colsaerts just a few weeks ago.
