Louis Oosthuizen and Charl Schwartzel have held on to their rankings – 20th and 25th in the world respectively – after the first FedExCup playoff event.

Oosthuizen was the best-placed South African at The Northern Trust, finishing T7 after a final round 69 with countryman Charl Schwartzel also posting 69 on Sunday to finish in a share of 29th place.

The pain of losing to world No 1 and new FedExCup leader Dustin Johnson in a playoff was eased for Jordan Spieth as he returned to second on the standings, with Hideki Matsuyama dropping to third.

Jon Rahm moved from eighth to fifth, Sergio Garcia dropping to seventh, with Justin Thomas holding forth at sixth between the Spaniards. Henrik Stenson, Jason Day and Rickie Fowler round out the top 10.

Branden Grace missed the cut, but survived to play on this week at the Dell Technologies Championship, as he snuck into the field ranked 99th in the updated FedExCup rankings.

Also missing the cut at Glen Oaks were Tyrone van Aswegen and Rory Sabbatini, who have had their season ended, but did enough throughout the season to secure their playing privileges on the PGA Tour next year.

On the European Tour, Haydn Porteous finished T6 at the Made in Denmark and jumped to 389 from 447 in the world.
