World number four Rory McIlroy made two changes to his bag at the Travelers Championship as he went through three putters in three days.

And it could’ve been more, after he was seen with as many as five options ahead of his third round.

First, McIlroy ditched the TaylorMade Spider putter, which he originally put in the bag at the US Open, after Friday’s second round, despite saying that he would give it ‘one more week’.

His next move was to TaylorMade TP Collection Mullen, but that lasted just 18 holes before the TP Collection Juno Tour Proto blade was introduced for the final round.

‘I couldn’t have done any worse than what I’ve done in the first three days,’ he told the media on Sunday.

‘So I just wanted to mix it up and go back to something that looked a little more familiar. That style of head or that head shape I’ve had the most success with. So I went back to that today to see if I could conjure up any good feelings and it felt pretty good.’

Up next for McIlroy is the Irish Open, the Scottish Open before the Open Championship.

What putter will be in the bag for Royal Birkdale? That’s anyone’s guess.
