South Africa’s Louis Oosthuizen will be playing for pride on Sunday, after a third round 76 saw him tumble down the leaderboard, writes WADE PRETORIUS.
Oosthuizen was unable to match compatriot Branden Grace, who was the first South African in the clubhouse and did so in under par on Saturday.
The 34-year-old got off the worst possible start as he made a triple bogey 7 on the opening hole. He played steady golf for the rest of the opening nine, including a birdie on the par 5 8th hole to turn in 38.
The weather was far better for scoring and he made it count on 11 as he made a birdie to get his round heading into the right direction. And that’s where it ended as the 2010 Open champion was unable to get into any sort of groove.
Bogeys followed on both of the back nine’s par 5, before he closed with a third bogey for the inward nine and a 76.
Oosthuizen heads into Sunday without a chance of avenging his 2014 playoff defeat, but must look to solidify his game and take some positives from what has otherwise been a disappointing Masters experience.
