I do believe Ernie is a good ambassador for SA and if anyone can convince Donald to come and visit our wonderful country it would be him. Only problem being Trump has his own problems to sort out before he can start helping other countries. Its like Athol Trollip and the amazing job he's doing for Port Elizabeth. His biggest headache of course is sorting out 20 years of disaster the ANC left behind and only then start with reform and stability. Oh wellllll.....

Ernie is free to play golf with who he likes. I hope he also mentions the current pathetic state of governance in South Africa.

I know of many local and international businesses that donate and / or fund projects and causes without writing a pressor about such endeavours. I have worked with a few that have it as communication policy not to mention their funding in any public forums. The one need not go hand in hand with the other.

Then they should stop posing for pics and briefing the world about their every movement. Just get on with doing good, if altruism is the actual goal.

Ernie is extremely wealthy no doubt, but when you look at the financing that goes behind medical research if you think someone at ernies wealth can (being far from mega rich) make all the finance that the field needs then you clearly havnt done tour homework. If he wants to raise more funds thats his business, and if it means creating awareness ive never seen a business try to 'anti-market' their product. Even if this werent the case, this is social media, if you want to critique on social media that someone should not post something on social media, then you're a hypocrite.

Key word in your sentence being 'businesses'. Their goal is not to make money to donate, their goal is to make money for the owners. Ernies autism foundation is solely to fund autism research, and as said ernie cant meet the demand for funds himself. Regarding communication policy, go look at an annual report of a listed company. If you can find one where they dont talk about what they are doing for the community (even if they are talking bs) ill be surprised. Although it may be the case that you have seen companies with such policy, it is not the norm. This coming from my experience in the auditing industry.
